Country Day School - Guanacaste

The excellent education offered at the Country Day School attracts families from all parts of the globe. These young families are certainly a welcome addition to our growing community. Many of our friends' children have happily attended County Day School, and we have all been enriched by their poems, art work, events and experiences.

A few major events have been responsible for the recent development and boom in the Tamarindo/Flamingo area: the opening of the International Airport at Liberia; the construction of the Four Seasons Hotel; the proposed new Marina at Flamingo; and, last but not least, the opening of the Country Day School between Tamarindo and Flamingo in 2001. Previously, families were reluctant to relocate to this area if they had school aged children. The first year the enrollment was 40 students with the present enrollment of 150 from K. to Grade 12.

The school is non-sectarian, college preparatory, co-education day/boarding program having a current teacher-student ratio of one to seven! The Country Day School?s mission is to provide its students with a traditional college prepartory education committed to high academic standards structured primary from a U.S. curricula. They also offer programs that we would have loved when attending school. The students are always talking about their golf, horse-back riding, surfing, and swimming lessons.

The school is very multicultural, with students from Canada, U.S.A., Italy, France, Germany and more. So in addition to instruction in English and Spanish, the students are exposed to languages and cultures from around the world.
